Three Alabama Football Players Named Preseason All-Americans
The Walter Camp 2022 Preseason All-American teams were released on Monday, and three Crimson Tide stars found themselves on the list.
Quarterback Bryce Young, linebacker Will Anderson, and cornerback Eli Ricks were all honored as first team selections. This is the second straight season that Anderson and Ricks have been selected for the preseason teams.
The teams also include other college football stars such as Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, Texas running back Bijan Robinson, and Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee.
Bryce Young and Will Anderson were sure-fire picks for the first-team, as they are regarded by many as the best players at their respective positions in the country. Eli Ricks, however, might come as a surprise to some after missing much of last season at LSU.
Young, the reigning Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award winner, is a projected top three selection by analysts in next year’s NFL draft with the potential to go first overall.
Anderson also took home some hardware last season, winning the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for the nation’s top defensive player. He is projected to be a high draft pick by analysts as well, with the potential to go first overall.
The selection for Eli Ricks shows that the hype and talent around the junior defensive back is still very real. After transferring to Alabama this offseason, Ricks looks to make an instant impact for the Tide’s secondary and this selection expects it as well.
