For the only time this season, the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will enjoy a Saturday free from competition as LSU week looms on the horizon.

Alabama has waltzed through their competition en route to an 8-0 start to the season.

As the Crimson Tide prepares for an important stretch of games in November, reflect on the three things you need to know about Alabama's 2018 season to date.

Before sophomore Tua Tagovailoa's first start at quarterback, the Ewa Beach, Hawaii native etched his name in Crimson Tide football lore with his 41-yard scoring strike to Devonta Smith to secure Alabama's 17th national championship against Georgia.

The sophomore signal caller has continued his stellar play through the first eight games of the season. Tagovailoa has surpassed 2,000 yards passing and has 25 touchdowns without throwing an interception and has tossed at least two scoring passes in every game this season.

One area of Alabama's record book shows how Alabama's sophomore phenom has already cemented his status as a Crimson Tide legend.

From 1892-2017, Alabama quarterbacks had a combined nine games with at least 300 yards passing and four touchdowns. Through eight games in 2018, Tagovailoa has recorded at least 300 yards passing and four touchdowns against Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas A&M.

Alabama's prolonged their superiority over SEC East opponents with a 58-21 win over Tennessee.

With the victory, the Crimson Tide extended their winning streak to 23 games over eastern division opponents. The most recent SEC East team to topple Alabama was South Carolina's 35-21 win in 2010.

In the 23-game streak, Nick Saban's squad has defeated Tennessee nine times, Florida four times, Georgia and Missouri three times each and Kentucky and Vanderbilt twice each.

Home Field Advantage Persists

While Alabama begins November in Baton Rouge next week, they will return to one of college football's top home field advantages for their final three games of the regular season.

Although you can debate whether other venues besides Bryant-Denny Stadium have louder and rowdier environments, there is no debating the success for Alabama at home under Nick Saban.

Since his arrival in 2007, Alabama has a 74-7 record at Bryant-Denny Stadium including an active winning streak of 23 games dating back to September 2015.

In their current 23-game home winning streak, the Crimson Tide has won by fewer than two touchdowns once with Tennessee losing 19-14 back in 2015.

So far this season, no opponent has lost by fewer than three touchdowns to the Crimson Tide inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
