Tide Sophomore Out For Year Following Tommy John Surgery
Rob Vaughn's pitching staff takes an early hit, as sophomore Riley Quick is expected to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery, per a Facebook post from his mom.
"Please pray for my sweet Riley Quick today." wrote Quick's mom, Lynn Hansen Quick, on Facebook. "He is having Tommy John Surgery this afternoon. Pray for Dr.Caine and the surgery team. Jeremiah 29:11"
The Trussville, Ala., native started on Saturday against the Manhattan College Jaspers, tossing three innings, allowing zero runs and hits while striking out five batters.
After a productive freshman season as a reliever, where Quick recorded a 3.68 ERA, he was set to get an increased role within the pitching staff. Now, we must wait another season to see Quick in a starter role wearing Crimson and White.
As for Quick's replacement, no official decision has been made yet, but Sunday starter Aidan Moza is a potential candidate to get bumped up in the rotation.
