Pickerington, OH-- The University of Alabama men's basketball team and its coach Nate Oats continue to be active on the recruiting trail as they prepare for their European tour.

On Friday July 29, small forward out of Ohio Devin Royal announced that Alabama was in his final three choices.

The 6-foot-6, 210 pound 4-star recruit is currently listed as the No. 2 prospect out of Ohio and the No. 75 overall recruit nationally according to 247sports. Royal is described as a do-it-all type of forward that can fit any role a team will ask him to fill due to his versatility as a player.

The three schools that made it into Royal's final selection are Alabama, Michigan State, and Ohio State.  Royal had a total of 18 offers made to him, so for Oats to make the final cut after only a short period of time since making their offer, it speaks volumes to the program that he is putting together right now.

Oats and the Crimson Tide extended Royal an offer on June 15, however Royal has yet to make an official visit to the university and will most likely do so in the weeks leading up to or during the 2022-2023 season.

247sports currently predicts that the Ohio native will remain in his home state and sign with Ohio State. However, this prediction does not hold much value to a coach like Oats who has routinely come in and stolen major recruits that had been supposedly all but locked up for other programs.

Oats is looking to build off of the incredible success he and his staff had when recruiting the current freshman class that is listed as the best in program history. Players seem to gravitate towards the system that Oats runs because of the freedom that it allows them on the offensive end.
