Trevon Diggs Sets a New Dallas Cowboys Franchise Record

Trevon Diggs continues to strengthen his case for Defensive Player of the Year. The second-year cornerback picked off his former teammate Mac Jones and returned it for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter of the Dallas Cowboys 35-29 overtime victory over the New England Patriots.

"They were running it all game, and I saw on film that they like to run that," said Diggs. "I just read it, made a play on the ball, he tipped it and it fell right in my hands. There was nothing stopping me. As soon as I got it, I was like, I gotta go score."

Diggs is the first player in franchise history to record an interception in each of the first six games of a season. His six-game interception streak to start a season ties an NFL record, joining Tom Landry, Barry Wilburn and Brian Russell. Diggs also became the first player in the Super Bowl era to record at least seven interceptions with multiple pick-sixes during the first six games of a season.

His seven interceptions are tied for the fifth most of any NFL team so far this season. Diggs also has scored more touchdowns this season than his brother Stefon Diggs, Kyle Pitts, Keenan Allen and Chase Claypool.

His performance this season has caught the attention of the entire sports world. Brooklyn Nets superstar James Harden tweeted about the Cowboys cornerback during the game.

The former Alabama cornerback won Defensive Player of the Month for September and is making a strong case to do the same in October.

Diggs will try and extend in his interception streak when the Cowboys face the Minnesota Vikings after their bye week on Sunday, Oct. 31.
