Tua Tagovailoa Signs Huge Contract
Alabama is building an argument for the modern-day QBU, with three first-round picks at quarterback since 2020 and three starting quarterbacks in the NFL (If you count Jalen Hurts). Jalen Milroe has a chance to bolster that argument as well.
Alabama's first of the flurry of quarterbacks, Tua Tagovailoa, was drafted No. 5 overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL draft. Tagovailoa took over as Miami's starter for Ryan Fitzpatrick midway through the 2020 season and never looked back, with his starting job never in jeopardy outside of injury.
Now, Tagovailoa cashes in.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins have agreed to a four-year, $212.4 Million extension. Tua Time remains in Miami.
Tagovailoa is the third highest-paid quarterback in the NFL at $53.1 million per season. Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow both earn $55 million per season.
The announcement was made official by the Dolphins' social media account posting a video of Tagovailoa.
During his time in Miami, Tagovailoa has completed 66.9% of his passes for 12,639 yards and 81 touchdowns. Tagovailoa has also run for 381 yards and six touchdowns in his career.
One of Tagovailoa's top targets is former Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who also signed an extension this offseason.
