Tuscaloosa Academy Trounced Susan Moore
This past Friday night, the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights traveled to Blountsville, Alabama to face the Susan Moore Bulldogs, where the Knights demolished the Bulldogs thanks to an incredible performance by Senior quarterback Preston Lancaster, who propelled TA to a 34-9 victory and a spot in the third round of the 2A AHSAA State playoffs.
The first quarter began slowly, with neither offense able to find a rhythm with both teams not scoring until Tuscaloosa Academy's quarterback Preston Lancaster connected with Senior Defensive back and Wide receiver Millis Turnipseed on a beautiful 30-yard pass to give the Knights a 7-0 lead after a successful PAT with 4:56 remaining in the first quarter.
Neither team scored anything in the first half, as both failed to move the ball. The only other points came before halftime, with 2:50 remaining in the second quarter when Susan Moore made a successful field goal.
The second half began with the Knights driving down the field, concluding in a ten-yard rushing touchdown by Tuscaloosa Academy's Senior runningback Taylor Thompson, who put the Visiting side up 14-3 with 9:00 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Susan Moore failed to respond, with the Knights scoring four minutes later when Lancaster connected with Senior Wide Receiver Ellis Hamiter for a 50-yard touchdown, putting the Knights up 18 points.
Tuscaloosa Academy kept their foot on the gas thanks to Senior quarterback Preston Lancaster's arm and legs, scoring two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, one on the ground and one through the air with a nine-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Wide Receiver Matthew Atkinson.
The Bulldogs' offense did not put up much of a fight, with the Bulldogs not scoring a single point in the second half until a touchdown in the final two minutes of regulation, when TA was already up 34-3; after a successful PAT, Susan Moore made the final score 34-9.
