UA System Finance Committee Approves Coleman Renovations
The University of Alabama System Finance Committee had a big meeting scheduled for Thursday, with renovations to Coleman Coliseum set to be voted on on Friday by the Board of Trustees.
The total project cost is around $58.67 million, broken down into $36.95 million from new bond funding and $21.73 million from UA reserves/gifts.
According to Nick Kelly of the Tuscalosoa News, the renovations to Coleman Coliseum will include new locker rooms, coaches' offices, a practice facility, and weight rooms.
Additionally, the current Alabama practice gym will be upgraded for Alabama Women's Basketball. Men's basketball will use the new gym.
According to Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne, the plan is to break ground this fall with the expectation that the facility will be fully operational by the start of the 2026 season. Byrne also said the renovations will not hinder the teams' ability to play in Coleman Coliseum.
Byrne also said the practice facility is Nate Oats's "highest priority."
