Alabama Pitcher Named Freshman of the Week by D1 Softball and Softball America
TUSCALOSA, Ala.- After an impressive opening weekend from the Crimson Tide, which saw them finish the weekend 5-0 while outscoring their opponents 51-6, their freshman pitcher, who finished the weekend 3-0, earned national recognition as D1 Softball’s National Freshman of the Week and Softball America’s Freshman Star of the Week on Tuesday.

Alabama’s freshman pitcher, Vic Moten, had a fantastic opening weekend with the Daphne, Alabama native finishing the weekend at the Buzz Classic in Atlanta, Georgia with a perfect 3-0 record while striking out 19 batters, boasting a 0.93 ERA throughout 15 innings pitched.
In Moten's three appearances on the mound this weekend, she only allowed two runs, which came in Alabama’s 7-2 win over Georgia Tech in a rematch between the two teams on Saturday.
Moten got the start for the Crimson Tide’s season opener against Villanova last Thursday, which saw her throw for 3.0 innings where she struck out six Wildcat batters and forced a five-inning combined no-hitter with Alabama’s sophomore pitcher Bray Hodges in relief.
The Crimson Tide’s standout freshman pitcher went on to pitch a two-hit shutout against Georgia Tech on Friday, where Moten threw 6.0 innings, striking out six Yellowjacket batters.
Moten and the Crimson Tide will be back in action this weekend at the 2026 Eason Bama Bash, an annual early-season tournament held at Rhoades Stadium featuring Purdue, Liberty, Georgia Southern, and, of course, the Crimson Tide.
Alabama will open the tournament on Friday, February 13th, against Purdue at 4 p.m., then return to action against Liberty at 6 p.m. CT.
