Waddle Officially Cleared; Day-To-Day For National Title

Alabama's junior wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle, has officially been cleared to return to football activity. Whether or not he plays in Monday night's national championship game will be up to Waddle and if he is comfortable playing, according to Aaron Suttles of The Athletic.

"He's been running, but we need to see him in practice," Saban said. "Our medical people will evaluate him as the week goes on and make a decision from there. He wants to play and has been working hard to get back."

Waddle is one of college football's most electric players and would likely be an early draft-pick in the 2021 NFL Draft should he choose to forgo his final season in Tuscaloosa. He endured a broken ankle on the opening kickoff in this past October's game against Tennessee, costing him the remainder of the regular season, the SEC Championship and the CFP Semi-final.

The Alabama offense has managed just fine without him thanks to leadership by quarterback Mac Jones and contributions by fellow Heisman-finalists DeVonta Smith and Najee Harris. Alabama has averaged 535 yards and 48.2 points per game this season.

Waddle was able to play in five games this season and hauled in 25 receptions for 557 yards, an average of 22.7 yards per reception, and four touchdowns. He was a factor on special teams as teams primarily opted not to kick to him.
