According to Brett Greenberg of Bama 247, the Crimson Tide has added former Washington Husky defensive lineman Caleb Smith via the transfer portal. Smith is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Parker High School. He signed with Washington as a member of Jeff Fisch's 2025 recruiting class, where he was ranked as a three-star prospect, the No. 135 defensive lineman, and the No. 39 player in the state of Alabama. He enrolled early at Washington in January 2025.

Smith entered the transfer portal a little over a year after he enrolled at Washington, entering the portal on January 7. He took a redshirt from Washington during his first season in Seattle after not seeing any game action during the season. He stands at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds.

Smith marks the 13th commitment for the Crimson Tide this transfer portal cycle, and the third defensive lineman Alabama has added via the portal. Here are the players currently committed to Alabama:

Josh Ford, TE (Oklahoma State)
Caleb Woodson, LB (Virginia Tech)
Kaden Strayhorn, OL (Michigan)
Devan Thompkins, DL (USC)
Ethan Stangle, Long Snapper (Syracuse)
Adam Watford, P (North Alabama)

The transfer portal officially opened on Friday, January 2, and will remain open until January 16.
