Washington Head Coach Cancels Radio Appearance
It's been a while since Alabama fans had to deal with a head coach search regarding their football program.
And Alabama fans have never had to deal with a head football coaching search in the age of social media. The speculation online is prepared to come to a boiling point roughly 41 hours after the surprise announcement of former head coach Nick Saban's retirement.
Several names have been linked to the program, with Oregon head coach Dan Lanning as the hottest name right out of the gate. Lanning would put out a tweet announcing that he is not leaving the University of Oregon on Thursday morning,
In an interview with Ryan Fowler on Tide 100.9, ESPN's Chris Low mentioned two names as the top candidates: Washington's Kalen DeBoer and Florida State's Mike Norvell.
DeBoer is currently the betting favorite to land the Alabama job, and there could be some more smoke regarding the Huskies headman.
On Friday, January 12, DeBoer was scheduled to go on 93.3 KJR Radio in Seattle, Washington for an on-air interview at 10 a.m. PT, 8 a.m. CT.
DeBoer canceled the interview, and he is reportedly meeting with Washington athletic director Troy Dannen in person.
Safe to say this is a significant update. It is currently unclear what the meeting between DeBoer and Dannen is about, but Gregg Bell of Tacoma News Tribune went on air on 93.3 KJR and speculated it could be about a contract extension.
Tide 100.9 will have full coverage of the University of Alabama's coaching search.
