Welcome to the Big Apple, Malachi Moore
The fourth member of the Crimson Tide's 2025 NFL draft class has officially come off the board, with Malachi Moore being selected in the fourth round by the New York Jets with the 130th overall pick in this year's draft.

Moore was a key member of Alabama's 2020 national championship squad and a major leader of the Crimson Tide's defense during the 2023 campaign, where Alabama won the SEC and made the College Football Playoff. Moore was also a permanent captain during the Tide's 2024 season amid the changes in the coaching staff after former Alabama head coach Nick Saban retired in January 2024.
Moore will join two other former members of the Crimson Tide in New York, with Quinnen Williams and Phidarian Mathis already on the Jets roster.
Moore was an exceptional leader and a key member of Alabama's success in the first four years of the 2020s, totaling 212 tackles, 24 pass breakups, seven interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 2.5 sacks in five seasons with the Crimson Tide. Moore, a Trussville, Alabama native, will leave Tuscaloosa with a national championship ring and three SEC championship rings.
While later draft picks are typically seen as depth additions, Moore has experience on special teams from his time at Alabama and could work his way into a valuable role with the Jets by contributing early in the third phase of football.
The Jets' current head coach, Aaron Glenn, was the defensive coordinator in Detroit before accepting the job with the Jets. In Detroit, he utilized former Alabama defensive back Brian Branch in a way that allowed Branch to blossom into one of the best young safeties in the league. Now, Glenn can carve out a role for Moore in the same capacity, as Branch and Moore played the same position at Alabama.
Congratulations to Malachi Moore for being drafted by the New York Jets!
