Who are the Best Coaches in the SEC?

Heading into the 2018 season, the Southeastern Conference will see a number of brand new faces along with familiar personalities returning to the sidelines.

As Saban enters his 12^th season as the Crimson Tide’s coach, five schools will debut new coaches while Matt Luke of Ole Miss will coach his first game in September as the permanent head coach of the Rebels.

Chad Morris at Arkansas, Joe Norwood at Mississippi State, Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee and Dan Mullen at Florida will debut at their new schools on September 1. For Norwood and Pruitt, they will also make their debuts as collegiate head coaches.

While Nick Saban has amassed five national titles in Tuscaloosa and six in his coaching career, the rest of the SEC coaches combined have one national title with Jimbo Fisher’s Florida State Seminoles beating Gus Malzahn’s Auburn Tigers in the 2013 BCS Championship Game.

The 13 coaches also have an uphill climb against Nick Saban as only Gus Malzahn has managed to defeat Nick Saban among the present crop of conference coaches.

During Friday’s edition of The Gary Harris Show, host Gary Harris and producer James Hardy provided their insights into their rankings of the head coaches in the SEC form 1-14.

They provided their rankings and opinions of the past accomplishments and challenges facing the collection of coaches.

Both Harris and Hardy have Saban firmly atop the SEC coaches, totem pole but their opinions differ concerning the positioning of much of the other 13 conference coaches.
