Formby, a 6-foot-7, 322-pound offensive tackle from Tuscaloosa, attended Northridge High School for his high school playing career. He was ranked as a unanimous four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class and was the No. 82 overall player. He chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Formby's football camp at Northridge High School is free to attend and is for kids 6-14 years old on Saturday, June 28. The camp will last for three hours from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

Formby is currently competing for the starting right tackle spot with the Crimson Tide after competing with Elijah Pritchett last season for the role. Formby won the battle to start the season, starting the Tide's first two games of the year at right tackle. However, Alabama shuffled the offensive line, and Formby spent most of his season playing as the second offensive tackle on the right side of the line. Despite not being the preferred starter for the Tide, Formby still saw major action for Alabama, including reps on Alabama's final drive of the season against the Michigan Wolverines. Formby made nine total appearances last season for Alabama.

Now, Formby has another offseason of training under his belt and hopes to lock up his starting spot at right tackle.
