Wrestlers React to Death of WWE Legend Ultimate Warrior
The Ultimate Warrior, one of professional wrestling's biggest stars during the late '80s and early '90s, died Tuesday night. He was 54.
The Warrior, whose real name was James Brian Hellwig before he legally changed it to Warrior in 1993, was a two-time WWE Intercontinental champion and also defeated Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania IV for the heavyweight title, making him the only wrestler to hold both belts simultaneously.
This past Saturday night, the Warrior was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He then appeared at Sunday's Wrestlemania XXX before making his return to WWE's flagship program, 'Raw,' Monday, where he addressed his fans directly for the first time in years:
Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that's larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers—by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him, and make the running the man did live forever. I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever.
Several of his fellow wrestlers, both from the Warrior's era and the current one, sent out their reactions via Twitter:
