Across the Diamond: Alexis Osorio Cleared for the Weekend [Video]
Since arriving in Tuscaloosa in 2015, senior pitcher Alexis Osorio has dazzled Alabama softball fans and confused opposing batters with a variety of pitches in her arsenal including her devastating rise ball.
Less than two weeks ago, Osorio was struck in the head thanks to a first inning line drive in the third game of the series at Auburn.
Following the line drive, the Riverside, California native has not played in Alabama’s most recent four games including this past weekend’s series against Ole Miss.
Since her departure, Alabama defeated UAB 10-5 in a mid-week contest on March 20 and beat Ole Miss in two of three games over the weekend.
During Tuesday’s chat with reporters, Alabama head softball coach Patrick Murphy provided a progress report for Osorio’s recovery.
“She got cleared this morning (Tuesday) so that was really, really good news. She threw a little bit Saturday, didn’t pass her test on the weekend but then she got cleared by the doctors today (Tuesday).” Murphy said.
“So, not sure when she’ll pitch, but she definitely will pitch.” Murphy said.
Alabama softball travels to Kentucky for a three-game series beginning Friday at 5 PM.
