In March, Holloway was arrested on first-degree possession of marijuana, which is a felony in the state of Alabama. In June, Holloway entered a second-chance program, signed on April 30 by Holloway and his attorney, Jason Neff.

According to court documents, Holloway had to:

  • Pay all court-ordered sums at $150 per month
  • Complete 50 hours of community service (No less than 10 hours per month until complete)
  • Attend classes of education and participate in an exit interview
  • Submit a meaningful letter acknowledging responsibility for the charged criminal act

Holloway was charged with First Degree Possession of Marijuana, three counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drug, and failure to affix a tax stamp following an arrest in March 2026, prior to Alabama's matchup with Hofstra in the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Following his arrest, Holloway was suspended indefinitely from the Alabama men's basketball team by head coach Nate Oats. The marijuana possession and failure to affix a tax stamp charges are both felonies in the state of Alabama.

Holloway was Alabama's second-leading scorer last season, averaging 16.8 points per game along with 2.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per game while shooting 48.1% from the floor and 43.8% from three-point range. His three-point percentage was the highest last season for the Crimson Tide.
