After being buried by the longball, Alabama Baseball comes up short to the NC State Wolfpack in game 1 of the NCAA Baseball Ruston Regional by a final score of 8-1.

After the loss, coach Brad Bohannon said, "Tyler Ras wasn't as sharp as he has been. He got behind in the count and he didn't do nearly as good of a job he normally does." He added, "The park played really offensively today and NC State is a physical group that has a lot of power.... You're not gonna win while giving up five home runs."

Junior RHP Tyler Ras got the start in the opening game and it's one he'll likely want to forget as he only went 4.1 innings while allowing seven hits, three walks, seven runs, and notching just three strikeouts. In relief, R-Sr. RHP William Freeman came in for 2.2 innings of solid work and gave up no runs or hits through the 10 batters he faced. Senior LHP Brock Guffey came in to close for the Tide. While he gave up another home run - Bama's fifth of the outing - the damage had already been done and the Wolfpack's hill was too steep to climb.

The Bama offense was stagnant and only put together four hits on the outing. Alabama's only run came off solo HR from senior OF Jackson Tate in the Top of the 5th, though struggling with getting baserunners prevented the Tide from capitalizing on the blast.

Due to the double-elimination nature of regional play, Alabama will play in the first elimination bracket game against Rider. Bama's elimination matchup starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, and can be listened to on Tide 100.9 FM.
