Coming off a mid-week loss to the UAB Blazers, the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team will look to correct course against the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville this weekend. Both teams will be carrying three-game losing streaks into the weekend series.

At 13-9, the Volunteers currently own the worst record in the SEC West and the second-worst record in the conference as a whole (which is shockingly owned by Mississippi State). The Volunteers are bolstered by shortstop Andre Lipcius, who leads the team with 22 RBIs and 28 hits on the season, and catcher Benito Santiago, who has a team-high .338 average to go along with 13 extra-base hits. Sean Hunley has been the team's most impressive pitcher up to this point, boasting a 1.59 ERA and 3-0 record across five starts, including a complete game shutout against Western Carolina.

For the Crimson Tide, outfielder Chandler Taylor continues to show why he was a second-team All-SEC selection last season as his nine home runs easily lead the team. For reference, nobody else on the team has more than two home runs. Sam Finnerty continues to be Alabama's most reliable starter, posting a solid 3.09 ERA across 32 innings pitched so far on the season. The Tide's biggest strength on the mound remains the work out of the bullpen, as four relievers currently have double-digit innings pitched combined with an ERA under 1.00.

This will be a crucial series for the Crimson Tide as they look to keep pace in the uber-competitive SEC West. The four teams ahead of them in the SEC West standings (Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn, and LSU) are all currently ranked within the top 20 of this week's D1Baseball.com Top 25 poll. While Alabama got off to a hot start this season, it will be time to see what the team is really made of as they enter the brunt of SEC play.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers will kick off their weekend series on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, with first pitch expected for 5:30 p.m. Saturday's matchup is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start, followed by Sunday's series finale at 2 p.m.

Friday's series opener can be watched live on SEC Network+, while the final two games will be available on the regular SEC Network. And as always, you can stream the Crimson Tide Sports Network broadcast of the games on Tide 102.9/100.9 or the all-new Tide 102.9 app.
