Alabama Makes Decision on Next Baseball Head Coach
Alabama is expected to hire Maryland baseball head coach Rob Vaughn as its next head coach, according to 247Sports' John Talty.
"Alabama is set to hire Maryland baseball coach Rob Vaughn as its next head coach, sources told Bama247," said Talty.
The announcement comes one day after the Crimson Tide's season ended in the Winston-Salem Super Regional, losing to Wake Forest 22-5.
Vaughn has spent the last six seasons with the Terps and has a 183-117 overall record, including 84-54 in conference play.
Last season, Maryland went 42-21 overall, 17-7 in conference play, won the 2023 Big 10 Tournament, and made an appearance in the Winston-Salem Regional.
Vaughn is a Kansas State alumnus and was a volunteer assistant coach there, as well as an assistant coach at Maryland prior to his promotion to head coach.
As for last season's interim head coach Jason Jackson, he is reportedly staying at the Capstone.
"One industry source told 247Sports that Jackson was expected to stay on as Vaughn's top assistant," said Talty.
