Alabama Crimson Tide basketball coach Avery Johnson is using the success of last season in recruiting and he is landing some big names.

Using some of the Nick Saban formula in the world of recruiting, Coach Johnson has helped the Crimson Tide jump all the way to number 7 for the 2019 class according to 247Sports, and his newest commit is the reason for it.

Four-star small forward Juwan Gary out of Columbia, SC decided to join the Crimson Tide over Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech. Last season at Gray Academy, Gary averaged 20.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

According to 247Sports, he is rated the 67th overall player in the country and 19th overall in his position and is highly regarded as one of the best players in the state of South Carolina. He will join another four-star forward Diante Smith, who committed to the Crimson Tide last week.

Coach Johnson is not done with recruiting and his highly rated 2019 class and only get better with five-star point guard Kira Lewis out of Hazel Green and five-star forward Trendon Watford out of Mountain Brook still yet to make a decision. If Johnson can convince those two in-state stars to roll with the Tide, this could be one of the best recruiting classes in Alabama basketball's history, and the 2019 class on the football field and say the same thing.
