Alabama Basketball Signee Posts Huge Numbers in High School Opene

Davison plays at Calhoun High School, a small 2A school in Letohatchee, AL, and is coming off of a season that saw the Tigers take home a state title. Seeing Davison put up numbers like this is should be no surprise. Back in February in the state title game, Davison finished the night with 34 points, ten rebounds, and three steals, also draining the game winning shot with 1.1 seconds left.

The Tigers are looking to repeat this season, and if Davison continues to play at such a high level, they very well could. Calhoun High School's basketball coach Ervin Starr told BamaCentral that he sees Davison as a Russell Westbrook type player, but with a better shot. That type of praise is very high, but when you watch Davison play, the comparisons are definitely there.

Davison is poised to be Alabama's next great point guard, following in the steps of Kira Lewis and Colin Sexton. He should be able to put up huge numbers in Nate Oats' system, as it will allow for him to spread the floor and put up a high volume of shots, both of which play well to his strengths.

Nate Oats said to the media this week that he feels like the combination of Davison and Alabama is a match made in heaven. "We all feel like JD is the best point guard in the country for the way we play," Oats said, "He is at his best when he is in the open floor and in transition. He can create off the dribble, make shots -- especially clutch shots -- and creates for his teammates. We feel like this was a match made in heaven with the way he plays and our style of play."

Alabama opens their basketball season against Jacksonville State at home in Coleman Coliseum on Nov. 25.
