Alabama Basketball Wins Their Fourth Straight Against the Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Alabama men’s basketball team survived a second-half surge from Mississippi State to hang on for the 68-62 winSaturday night in front of a sold-out crowd in Coleman Coliseum. Sophomores Braxton Key and Daniel Giddens shined brightly to push the Tide’s winning streak to four consecutive games.
Key led the Crimson Tide offense with a season high of 16 points, while Giddens posted a career-high 13 points. Sophomore Dazon Ingram also contributed quality minutes, adding six assists to go along with eight rebounds and seven points, while junior Donta Hall put up eight points.
After Alabama (13-6, 5-2 SEC) took the, 41-22, lead at the break, MSU (14-5, 2-4 SEC) rallied back into the game, knotting the score at 60 apiece with 1:37 left on the clock, but Alabama hit its last three field goals to ice the game. Alabama shot 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from the field in the first half to end the game shooting 41.7 percent from the floor (25-of-60). The Tide did well in sharing the basketball with 16 assists while its fast hands led to 19 points off of 16 Mississippi State turnovers.
The Crimson Tide will hit the road to face Ole Miss on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in Oxford, Miss. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcasted live on SEC Network.
