The University of Alabama welcomed home members of its legendary 1992 national championship team for the 30 year anniversary of their dominant victory over the Miami Hurricanes as part of the homecoming festivities. The team won in dominant fashion 34-13.

The 1992 team holds a special place in the hearts of many Alabama fans as that was the only national championship that came between the illustrious Bear Bryant and Nick Saban eras. Additionally, the Miami Hurricanes team they defeated is widely regarded as one of the best teams to ever take the field in the history of college football.

In the game, the Alabama defense put on one of the most dominant defensive performances of all time. They did not allow the high flying Miami offense to score a single touchdown and Alabama legend George Teague recorded a pick-six.

The 1992 team went a perfect 13-0 on the year, earning the school's 12th national championship. The team played in the first ever SEC Championship game, defeating the Florida Gators 28-21 at Legion Field in Birmingham.

Many members of the 1992 team still hold a prominent position in the Tuscaloosa community. Fullback Martin Houston hosts The Martin Houston Show on TIDE 100.9 every weekday morning at 6 a.m. and serves as the Chief Growth Officer for Alabama ONE Credit Union.

Quarterback Jay Barker hosts the Jay Barker Show on TIDE 100.9, as well, every weekday from 12-2 p.m.

Head coach Gene Stallings still frequents Tuscaloosa's radio shows and comes to visit the community with regularity, and is a close friend of the Sabans.

Wide receiver Dabo Swinney may not be a part of the Tuscaloosa community anymore, but as head coach of the Clemson Tigers, he has had a huge impact on the program. Swinney's Tigers have met Alabama in the College Football Playoffs four times and the teams have each won two of those games a piece.
