Alabama Coaching Staff Selects Six Players of the Week Following Tide’s Win at Arkansas
The Alabama coaching staff selected six players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 65-31 at Arkansas last Saturday in Fayetteville. Damien Harris, Jerry Jeudy and Tua Tagovailoa on offense; Deionte Thompson and Quinnen Williams on defense; and Jaylen Moody on special teams all earned the coaches’ honor for their performances against the Razorbacks.
Harris recorded the seventh 100-yard rushing performance of his career with a season-high 111 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. The senior added one reception out of the backfield for a gain of 13 to finish with 124 all-purpose yards on the day. Jeudy continued his standout play at wide receiver, hauling in four catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns. The two-touchdown performance by the sophomore was his fourth of the season as he led all wideouts in yards and scores. In just over a half of play, Tagovailoa completed 76.9 percent of his passes on 10-of-13 passing for 334 yards and a career-high tying four touchdown strikes – all coming in the first half. All 10 of the sophomore’s completions went for a first down or touchdown and totaled 13 or more yards. He added seven yards on three rushes before exiting the game after 38 plays.
Thompson set a new career-high mark with nine tackles against the Razorbacks. The redshirt junior also broke up one pass and recovered a fumble for UA, one the defense’s three turnovers on the day. Williams led the Crimson Tide defense in production points and accounted for four total tackles with 1.5 coming for a loss (-4 yards). The redshirt sophomore added half a sack (-2 yards) and recorded a pair of quarterback pressures.
Moody earned special teams recognition for a second consecutive week thanks to his standout play on special teams. The freshman has now seen time on special teams in all six games.
