Alabama DB Domani Jackson Following 45-Point Beatdown Against Mercer Saturday
Following Alabama's 45-point victory over the Mercer Bears on Saturday at Bryant Denny Stadium, Junior Defensive Back Domani Jackson spoke with the media about his thoughts on the victory.
Jackson had a solid game with two total tackles and one tackle for loss in the Crimson Tide's 52-7 win.
The former USC defensive back, who transferred to the Crimson Tide past off-season, began his chat with the media by stating that there are "11 people out there and each person can make a play, so I'm happy that they are all doing it." Three Alabama defenders committed turnovers in Saturday's victory over Mercer, with two of them being fumble recoveries, one of which was recovered for a 68-yard score by Alabama's Freshman Cornerback Zabien Brown.
Jackson spoke highly of teammate Jihaad Campbell when asked by the media how valuable Campbell is to the Tide's defense. The Junior defensive back answered short and simply that the Tide's star linebacker is a "dog and everything above." Jihaad Campbell led the Crimson Tide's defense in tackles today with 9, including one sack. Campbell, the Tide's junior linebacker, has 44 tackles and four sacks this season.
Alabama's defense scored their first defensive touchdown of the season on Zabien Brown's 68-yard fumble recovery, with Jackson stating that there was a competition on the defensive side of the ball to see who scored the Tide's first defensive touchdown, adding, "It's always a competition, but I'm glad Zabien got it."
Domani Jackson discussed Alabama redshirt freshman linebacker Qua Russaw's diving one-handed interception early in the first half after Mercer quarterback Whitt Newbaeur's pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage. Jackson commented on Russaw's athleticism, claiming, "He does it in practice, so we knew he was going to do it."
To close his interview with the media, the USC transfer stated that he was "ready to go" for his first game at OU Memorial Stadium, where the Alabama Crimson Tide will face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
