Alabama Dominates Texas Tech to Advance to Fourth Consecutive Sweet 16
TAMPA, Fla. - The Alabama Crimson Tide jumped out to an early lead with a scoring and rebounding onslaught against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, with the Crimson Tide making its fourth consecutive Sweet 16 appearance after a 90-65 victory over the Red Raiders in the Round of 32.

The Tide faced an uphill battle after junior guard Aden Holloway was ruled out for the weekend, and in Alabama's first game of the tournament against Hofstra, the Crimson Tide had no issues making up for the loss of Holloway's production, scoring 90 points with five players scoring in double figures, led by sophomore Labaron Philon with 29 points - his 20th game of the season scoring 20+ points. The Tide didn't need to rely on Philon on Sunday, however, with veteran guard Latrell Wrightsell leading the Tide in scoring with 24 points on 6-9 shooting from three-point range.
The Crimson Tide cooked Texas Tech from three-point range in the first half, with seven different players hitting 11 shots from beyond the arc, resulting in Alabama's 40.7% shooting from deep in the first half. The Crimson Tide distributed the ball well, with five players having five points or more, including Noah Williamson and Houston Mallette, with Mallette hitting three shots beyond the arc. Rebounding had been an issue for Alabama all season, but wasn't over the first 20 minutes against the Red Raiders, with the Tide dominating the glass 30-16. The Tide carried the momentum into the second half, cruising to a Round of 32 victory over Texas Tech.
Alabama continued its scoring onslaught through the second half, shooting 72.7% from beyond the arc for much of the second half. The Tide didn't need to rely on star sophomore Labaron Philon when Wrightsell and Mallette shot a combined 6-7 from deep in the second half. The Tide's veteran leaders finished the night with a combined 39 points for the Crimson Tide. Alabama trailed for just 52 seconds on Sunday night and didn't trail after 18:49 in the first half, when it was a 2-0 ball game.
