The Crimson Tide has made another change to its 2026 coaching staff, with reports from Alex Scarborough of Bama247 indicating that the Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer have fired offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.

Sources confirm the reports to Tide 100.9. Kapilovic, a graduate of Missouri State in 1990, was in his second season coaching the Crimson Tide's offensive line. He had previously spent time at Michigan State (2020-23), Colorado (2019), North Carolina (2012-2018), and Southern Miss (2008-2011) at the FBS level in various roles, mostly pertaining to offensive line coaching and run game coordination.

Alabama's offense struggled in 2025, notably in the run game. The Tide averaged just 104.1 rushing yards per game, ranking 15th in the SEC, ahead of only LSU by 0.1 yards per game. Alabama rushers averaged just 3.4 yards per carry on the season. The offensive line allowed 33 sacks on the season and allowed four sacks in four games this season. The offensive line regression was evident during the second half of the season. In the first half of the season, Alabama's offensive line allowed 12 sacks. During the second half of the season, the offensive line allowed 17 sacks.

The obvious option for Alabama along the offensive line would be former Washington Huskies' offensive line coach Scott Huff, who was originally hired by DeBoer in Tuscaloosa in February 2024, before departing Alabama to follow Ryan Grubb to the Seattle Seahawks in March 2024.

Alabama has already replaced wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard, hiring former Auburn offensive coordinator Derrick Nix for the role. The Tide needs to replace quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan, who accepted the offensive coordinator job at Michigan State.
