Alabama Quarterbacks Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator Nick Sheridan Return to OC Role with New Team
The Alabama Crimson Tide lost wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard to Oregon State's head coaching vacancy, and will need to replace its other co-offensive coordinator. Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reports that co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan is expected to be hired by Michigan State as the Spartans' offensive coordinator.

Sheridan, a 37-year-old from Maine, has experience both as a playcaller and in the Big Ten. Sheridan spent four seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers, serving as the Hoosiers' quarterbacks coach in 2017 and 2018, the tight end's coach in 2019, and the offensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021.
Sheridan joined forces with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer when DeBoer was the offensive coordinator at Indiana in 2019. DeBoer left Indiana in 2020, but the two rejoined at Washington in 2022 when DeBoer became the head coach for the Huskies. Sheridan was the tight ends coach under DeBoer at Washington, and came with him to Tuscaloosa in 2024, where he was Alabama's offensive coordinator when Ryan Grubb left Tuscaloosa after just a month.
Sheridan became Alabama's co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2025 when Grubb returned to Alabama. Under Sheridan in 2024, Alabama averaged 34.5 points, 236.4 pass yards, 173.8 rushing yards per game, and converted third downs at a 47.56% clip.
45-year-old Brian Lindgren had served as Michigan State's offensive coordinator in 2024 and 2025, but did so under former head coach Jonathan Smith, who was fired on November 30. The Spartans hired Pat Fitzgerald as their new head coach on December 1.
