Alabama Flips 4-Star Tight End From Ohio State

The Alabama Crimson Tide continues its momentum in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Tight end Ty Lockwood took to social media to announce he would be decommitting from Ohio State and joining the Alabama Crimson Tide class.

Lockwood is considered a 4-star prospect and the No. 9 overall tight end in the '23 class. He hails from Independence High School in Thompson's Station, TN.

The rising senior is listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and is considered to be exceptionally athletic with ability to make a difference as a pass-catcher and an in-line blocker.

Lockwood had been committed to the Buckeyes since August of 2021 but received an Alabama offer in late July and decided to join the Crimson Tide class.

He's been recruited to Tuscaloosa by new tight end's coach Joe Cox. He becomes the 18th commitment in the '23 class for Alabama and is currently the only tight end in the class.

Alabama now has the No. 1 overall class according 247Sports and On3 Sports, however Rivals still lists the Crimson Tide with the No. 2 class.

Lockwood hauled in 42 catches for 462 yards and two touchdowns as a junior, while Independence went 4-7 last season.

The highly coveted tight end also had scholarship offers from other major programs like Michigan, LSU, Texas A&M and dozens of others.
