The Crimson Tide will be down yet another body from the 2024-25 men's basketball season next year, with freshman forward Derrion Reid entering the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.

Reid, 6-foot-8, 220-pound small forward from Grovetown, Georgia, averaged six points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game for the Crimson Tide last season while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 26.3 percent from three-point range.

He is the fourth Alabama men's basketball player to enter the transfer portal from the Tide's Elite Eight run this season, joining fellow freshman Naas Cunningham, forward Mouhamed Dioubate, and forward Jarin Stevenson as Tide players in the transfer portal. Dioubate is the only one who has committed to a new school already, playing his 2025-26 men's basketball season for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Reid was a five-star McDonald's All-American as a senior in high school, ranking as the No. 10 overall player according to 247 Sports composite rankings. He committed to Alabama over Florida State and his hometown team, the Georgia Bulldogs. He committed to Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide in December 2023 and was signed as a part of Alabama's star-studded 2024 recruiting class.

Alabama has already earned three commitments from the transfer portal, with Bucknell big man Noah Williamson, Florida State Forward Taylor Bol Bowen, and Miami guard Jalil Bethea all committing to the Crimson Tide.
