Five former Alabama players from four different decades joined The Game with Ryan Fowler and Mick Gillispie this week to discuss the Iron Bowl. Though their stories were different, the sentiment was the same: the Iron Bowl is one of premiere rivalries in college football.

Lee Roy Jordan, a member of the Crimson Tide from 1960-1963 recalled his first experience as part of the rivalry, recalling that the 1960 season was just the beginning.

Ozzie Newsome, a player Bear Bryant called the greatest end in Alabama History noted that he had never lost to Auburn while donning a crimson and white jersey.

Another player who never lost to Auburn while in Tuscaloosa was former Alabama Offensive Lineman Bill Searcey who told how Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant would put an extra emphasis on the Auburn Tigers

In the late 90's and early part of the 2000's, quarterback Andrew Zow led Alabama to three wins over the Tigers, but there is one game in particular that stands out to the former gunslinger, the 2001 meeting on The Plains.

After Zow left, the Auburn Tigers went on to rattle 6 consecutive victories over the Crimson Tide. However Alabama Defensive Back Will Lowery Was Part of the team that restored order.

The Game airs weeknights from 6-8pm on Tuscaloosa’s Sports Authority 99.1 WDGM.  You can hear the entire interviews here.
