The Alabama men's basketball team opened its home slate with a 76-64 win over Texas Tech Thursday night in Coleman Coliseum. Senior guard Trevor Releford led the Crimson Tide with 29 points on 11-of-14 shooting.

Alabama was tied with just over nine minutes remaining in the first half, but finished on a 20-8 run to end the stanza ahead by a score of 40-28. The Tide shot 54.9 percent (28-of-51) from the field and shot over 50 percent in both halves.

Sophomore guard Retin Obasohan had a career-high 15 points while tying his career-high in steals with five.  He also led the team with four assists. Junior guard Levi Randolph had 10 points and three rebounds. Freshman forward Jimmie Taylor led the team with a career-high four blocks. Texas Tech was led by forwards Jaye Crockett and Jordan Tolbert who each had 14 points.

Releford passed Richard Hendrix for 20th on the school’s all-time leading scoring list as he now has 1,339 points. He also went 5-of-7 from behind the three-point line. The five three-pointers also tied a career-high, which he’s done two other times.

Alabama returns to action next Monday night at 7 p.m. CT against Stillman in the first game in the NIT Season Tipoff. The game will be televised by ESPN3 and the radio broadcast will be carried on the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
