The final month of the college football regular season is here and brings with it the first set of playoff rankings.

The selection committee met to determine who it felt earned the top four spots in the rankings through nine weeks. There wasn't any surprise at the top, where defending champion Alabama is back at No. 1. The Crimson Tide has flipped the script this year and rode the offense and 54.1 points per game to a perfect record. It will carry that undefeated stat to Baton Rouge to take on No. 3 LSU on Saturday.

The Tigers came in behind only Clemson while Notre Dame rounded out the top four. Michigan and Georgia were the first two teams out.

It's important to keep in mind that these rankings don't mean too much because there's so much football left to play, but they do give us an idea of what the committee has valued thus far.
