The No. 9-seeded Alabama baseball team defeated No. 8-seeded Kentucky 4-0 in the first round of the 2023 SEC Baseball Tournament on Tuesday night.

Left-handed pitcher Hunter Furtado started on the mound for the Crimson Tide. He pitched five innings, recording two hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.

Alabama got on the board first, scoring two runs in the fourth inning. Right fielder Andrew Pinckney hit his 16th home run of the season, a two-run shot, to give the Crimson Tide the 2-0 lead.

The Crimson Tide extend its lead in the sixth inning. Pinckney brought in a run after reaching first base and advancing to second on a throwing error by Kentucky to put Alabama up 3-0.

Right-handed pitcher Kade Woods came in for relief in the sixth inning. He pitched two innings, recording two hits, one walk, and one strikeout.

The Tide put one more run on the board in the eighth inning. Second baseman Ed Johnson hit an RBI single to cap off Alabama's 4-0 win.

Closer Alton Davis II came in to finish the game. He pitched two innings, recording two hits and two strikeouts.
