Alabama Softball Freshman Makes Program History
Alabama softball player Kenleigh Cahalan has made program history in her freshman campaign as being the second freshman in Crimson Tide history to start the season on at least an eight-game hitting streak.
"Kenleigh Cahalan has started her freshman campaign on an eight-game hitting streak... the only other Crimson Tide freshman to do so was Haylie McCleney, who started her 2013 rookie season on a 12-game hit streak," said Alabama softball.
The Ala., native has already made a name for herself, earning a starting spot on Team 27's roster. So far this season, she has recorded eight hits in 24 at-bats, a .333 batting average, batted six runs in, two home runs, drawn five walks, and has a .958 fielding percentage.
The infielder is the No. 1 overall prospect in Perfect Game Softball's class of 2023. She committed to the Crimson Tide in Sept. of 2021 and signed with Alabama on Nov. 10, 2022.
Cahalan enrolled at the Capstone in January and was approved to play this season.
The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team is set to take on Samford on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at 6 p.m. CT. Coverage will be on ME-Tv 97.5 and the ME-Tv 97.5 app which is free to download in the App Store.
