Alabama sophomore defensive back Geno Smith was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Few details have emerged of the arrest as of Sunday afternoon.

"This is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a university statement. "I don't have all of the details at this point and will handle it appropriately once I've had a chance to review the information."

The Tuscaloosa News originally reported that the arrest was made by UAPD (University Police), however the official arrest report on the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office website states that the agency of arrest was "TPD" (Tuscaloosa Police Department).

Smith, a native of Atlanta, most notably started the SEC Championship and was a regular contributor in the latter half of his freshman year last season.
