The Alabama women’s basketball team (11-9, 2-7 SEC) travels to face the No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks (20-1, 8-1 SEC) on Thursday night in Colonial Life Arena.

The Tide come into the game after suffering a tough, 77-61, setback against Missouri at home. Despite the loss, four Alabama players scored in double figures including JaMya Mingo-Young (15), Megan Abrams (14), Hannah Barber (12), and Jada Rice (12).

South Carolina last saw action on Sunday against Florida, where they won 62-50 in Gainesville.

In SEC play, South Carolina is led in scoring by Aliyah Boston (17.1), Zia Cooke (11.6), and Destanni Henderson (10.4). Boston boasts the highest field goal percentage (55.0) in the SEC. Boston also leads the Gamecocks in rebounds per game (14.1) in conference play.

Defensively, South Carolina leads the nation in blocks (173), blocks per game (8.2), and rebound margin (18.2). The Gamecocks also lead the conference and rank top-10 nationally in scoring defense (51.5) and scoring margin (19.7).

In SEC play, Alabama is led in scoring by Brittany Davis (15.2) and JaMya Mingo-Young (11.3). Davis also leads the Tide in rebounds per game (7.6) in conference play.

After recording back-to-back 20-point plus games, Davis was held to only three points on Sunday. Davis will have to put up a much better performance if Alabama wants to take down the number one team in the nation.

These two squads last met in the quarterfinals of the 2021 SEC Tournament where the Gamecocks defeated the Tide, 75-63, before going on to win the SEC Tournament Championship.

The Gamecocks currently hold a 19-game win streak over the Tide.

Tipoff is set for Thursday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. CT on the SEC Network Plus.
