Alabama sophomore guard Jaden Shackelford has taken to his social media to announce his decision to enter the NBA Draft. Shackelford adds that he will not hire an agent in order to maintain his college eligibility.

The sophomore guard from Hesperia, California came to Alabama as a 4-star prospect. In the two seasons he's been at The Capstone he has averaged 14.5 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 35% from beyond the arc.

Shackelford earned a place on the SEC All-Freshman Team in his first year and was named a member of the SEC Second Team this past season. The guard led the Crimson Tide in scoring this past season and was second in scoring in his freshman year.

The deadline for players to withdraw from the NBA Draft process is July 19. Shackelford will be joined in the draft process by teammate Jahvon Quinerly. Quinerly has also opted to not hire an agent, leaving the door open for his potential return to Tuscaloosa.

Last season both John Petty and Herb Jones took part in the predraft process prior to opting to return to school for their senior years. Both players were able to receive evaluations and improve their draft stock with strong seasons.

The Alabama basketball program is currently one scholarship over its limit of 13 for the 2021 season. Should either player receive a positive evaluation and choose to stay in the NBA Draft it will rectify the Crimson Tide's scholarship overage.
