Alex McGough Signs With Green Bay Packers
Alex McGough started the 2023 USFL season as the backup in charge of filling J'Mar Smith's shoes after Smith suffered an injury in the first game of the season. Little did McGough know, he would carry the Stallions back into the playoffs, and the USFL Championship would come home to Birmingham for the second year straight. McGough's efforts have now led to his triumphant return to the NFL, as the Birmingham quarterback has officially signed with the Green Bay Packers.
The USFL QB had a brief stint in the NFL from 2018 to 2021 where he bounced around the Seattle Seahawks, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Houston Texans before ultimately finding himself in the USFL Draft in 2022.
McGough had an eventful 2023 season that saw him throw for 2,104 yards and run for 403 yards. McGough also led the league in passing touchdowns with a total of 20, while also carrying 5 into the endzone. His efforts led to him winning the USFL's Most Valuable Player award.
McGough looks to be a valuable asset to head coach Matt LaFleur, alongside Jordan Love, who will be taking the starting QB position after the departure of Aaron Rodgers.
