Despite the addition of a highly-touted quarterback in the class, Alabama lost out on its only wide receiver committed in the 2027 recruiting class. Hayes Fawcett of Rivals announced that four-star athlete Alex Ward has de-committed from Alabama.

Ward, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound athlete from Marietta, Georgia, committed to Alabama in November 2024. He's ranked as the No. 14 athlete in the class, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He's the No. 247 player in the class. While Ward is from Marietta, Georgia, he attends IMG Academy in Florida.

Alabama still has four commitments in its 2027 recruiting class.

Four-star edge Jabarrius Garror
Four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams
Four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn
Three-star cornerbacl Nash Johnson III

Ward still holds an offer from Alabama, and does from other premiere schools across the country, including Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee, among others.
