Auburn put on an “orange out” on Saturday as the Tigers welcomed the No. 22 Penn State Nittany Lions to Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers did not fare well in this matchup falling, 41-12.

James Franklin’s team rolled the dice early going for it on 4th down at their own 47-yard line. The gamble did not pay off, giving the Tigers great field position to start the game. Auburn found its way to the Penn State 8-yard line, but settled for a field goal to go up 3-0.

Penn State responded as quarterback Sean Clifford cashed in on a 7-yard run to cap off a 9-play, 75-yard drive, giving the Nittany Lions a 7-3 advantage.

On the ensuing Tiger possession, Auburn quarterback TJ Finley threw an interception giving the ball back to the Nittany Lions right as the first quarter ended.

The Tigers found themselves deep in Penn State territory, but had to settle for three once again on an Anders Carlson 22-yard field goal, cutting the Penn State lead to one point with 6:59 left in the second quarter.

Penn State responded with a Kaytron Allen rushing touchdown, putting the Nittany  Lions up 14-6 right before the half.

Penn State started the second half strong, as running back Nicholas Singleton picked up a huge, 53-yard carry to put the Nittany Lions at the Auburn 5-yard line. Two plays later, Singleton ran it into the end zone, extending the Penn State lead to 21-6.

On the ensuing Auburn possession, the Tigers coughed up the ball for the third time, as the Penn State defense forced a fumble deep in Auburn territory. The Nittany Lions capitalized on the turnover, connecting on a 48-yard field goal.

The Tigers found its way back to the red zone, but a sack and an interception quickly took the momentum away. Penn State capitalized once again off of an Auburn turnover, as the Nittany Lions scored on an Allen rushing touchdown, to go up 31-6.
