Bama Baseball’s Garrett McMillan Chooses to Return to Tuscaloosa.
On Friday evening, Garrett McMillan took to Instagram to announce that he would be returning to the Crimson Tide for year two.
The Tuscaloosa native and Hillcrest graduate was drafted last week by the Minnesota Twins with the No. 564 overall pick in Round 19 of the 2022 MLB draft. The two-way starter for the Crimson Tide went 4-5 last season in 16 starts and recorded a 4.29 ERA.
However, McMillan decided not to sign with the Twins, allowing him to return to Tuscaloosa and attempt to improve his stock for the draft next year.
Coach Brad Bohannon recruited McMillan out of Shelton State Community College and believed he could be one of the Tide's best starters. With another year to come in Tuscaloosa, it will be exciting to see how he grows as a player and if he can reach his full potential.
Coach Brad Bohannon took over as head coach back in 2018 and has had 20 players drafted to the MLB. The Crimson Tide alone had four players taken in this year's MLB Draft with another five incoming players being taken as well.
