Bama Hoops Fall in Latest Poll

In Monday’s latest AP Poll, the Alabama Men’s Basketball team fell, once again, in the top 25 rankings. Now ranked 11th, Bama most recently played last Saturday, in Columbia, Missouri, and came up short against Mizzou 68-65, who took ‘Bama’s spot at No. 10. This marked the first conference loss for the Crimson Tide this season.

While the Crimson Tide may have lost two of their last three games, they are still sitting in the top 15 for the third straight week.

While Saturday’s loss broke a 10-conference-game winning streak, Alabama still sits at the top of the SEC standings. Three games behind them sit the Mizzou Tigers.

Looking forward to this week, the Crimson Tide will be traveling to Columbia, South Carolina on Tuesday to take on the Gamecock, a team that has lost five of their last seven games. This game will tip-off at 5:30 and will be televised on the SEC Network.

Later in the week, on Saturday, ‘Bama will host the Georgia Bulldogs for a mid-day showdown, also on SEC Network. The Bulldogs, currently five games behind the Crimson Tide, are riding a three-game win streak with a game in Knoxville on Wednesday against the No. 16 Volunteers.

Up until Saturday, Alabama was on pace to surpass the 1955-56 Alabama basketball team as the best ever. That team went 14-0 in conference play and 21-3 overall. It is still possible to surpass this team; however, this year’s team currently has 10 SEC wins with seven conference games remaining. If Coach Oats’s team can win five more of the remaining seven, then they will have won more conference games than the legendary “Rocket 8” team.

With just over three weeks remaining in the regular season, Alabama has a chance at earning an automatic bid into March Madness if the team can win the regular-season SEC title.
