Bama in the Big Leagues: Josh Rutledge Begins Rehab Assignment
Most of Alabama’s six former players that are on Major League Baseball rosters are looking to push forward into the final two months of the season.
One recent Crimson Tide star is beginning his rehab assignment in the minors. Boston Red Sox third baseman Josh Rutledge has missed the last month of the season due to a concussion and started his rehab assignment July 20 in Triple-A with the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Rutledge went 1-4 with a double in his initial game with Pawtucket against Norfolk but has gone 1-12 in his most recent four minor league games.
After suffering a loss against Pittsburgh on July 20, Jimmy Nelson bounced back at Washington. The right handed hurler fanned 10 batters while issuing just one walk against the Nationals. Nelson left the game with a 2-1 lead but Washington scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in an 8-5 Washington win.
