Bama in the NFL: Week 15 Recap
Week 15 has passed us by and the great games that came with it were astounding! The big matchups to break down delivered, so let's see how the players in them did.
Bills - 48 vs. Lions - 42:
Amari Cooper (Bills) - A heavy Josh Allen game limited what Cooper was able to do. Focussing on the run game with Allen and quick screens, Cooper was used more as a deep threat decoy. No catches and no targets, but they won.
Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) - A well balanced split of opportunities for Gibbs allowed him to get two touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air. He only had 8 carries for 31 yards but was a lot more productive as a receiver, gaining 83 yards off five catches. With Montgomery out for the season form an MCL injury in this game, Gibbs will likely see an increase in carries going forward.
Jameson Williams (Lions) - Finding the endzone on one of his three catches, Williams played a really good game. The Lions had a focus early of throwing the ball, then went back to the run, and then used Williams off play action. He came up big on a third down as well. expect him to continue to thrive in this offense.
Eagles - 27 vs. Steelers - 13:
Jalen Hurts (Eagles) - Running for a touchdown, and then tossing another two. Hurts and the Eagles seemingly put to bed all of the questions about their offense. He did have a fumble but thats not unheard of when facing TJ Watt. It was a great day and a great way for the Eagles to build into this postseason run.
DeVonta Smith (Eagles) - It was a great day for Smitty as he had 11 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. It was a show of force for this eagles passing attack. Things seem to be coming together for them and they should continue through the end of the year. The playoffs might be different.
Najee Harris (Steelers) - The Steelers did not have much to work with on offense as the Eagles defense took all their strengths away. Najee only got the ball in his hands 7 total times with six of them being carries for 14 yards total. A tough day for sure, but when your possessions are limited, and you are behind, running the ball is not a priority.
Dolphins - 12 vs. Texans - 20:
Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) - Turning the ball over 4 times is a recipe for disaster for any qb. Tagovailoa doing that in this matchup is cause for concern. A tough defense, yes, so it is understandable and when you have a serious injury like what happened here with the Dolphins, it makes it even more mentally challenging.
Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) - Going out early with a non-serious knee injury it was obviously a quiet game from Waddle. Two targets for him but none were caught.
Will Anderson jr. (Texans) - A great game from him in this matchup. HE forced a fumble, got a sack, and had 3 total tackles. He is as explosive as ever off the line and will continue to be one of the best at the position going forward.
Player of the week:
Jalen Hurts (Eagles) - Go watch that game. He clearly has stepped up his play the past few weeks, culminating in this one here. Three total touchdowns and a win.
