In the college football world, the Southeastern Conference sits atop the mountain top. 6 consecutive national championships and the threat of capturing a 7th will give you that distinction.

However, it is not just national championship games in which the conference has built its reputation. No, it has been built on dominating performance against opponents from challenging conferences in season openers under the bright lights of Atlanta and Dallas and finished in January.

Now, with the heart of the bowl season in full swing, the SEC will begin its slate of high profile games including Florida against Louisville, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, Georgia versus Nebraska among others.  College football analyst Brent Beaird joined The Game Friday night and said he believes the conference will maintain their dominance, however there is an exception.

Without question the crowning moment of the college football season will be the game in which the national champion will be crowned-the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame. When looking at this game, three things stick out to Beaird.

The Game featuring Ryan Fowler and Mick Gillispie airs weekdays from 6-8 pm on Tuscaloosa’s Sports Authority 99.1 WDGM.
