Two days after fines and suspensions were handed down from a weekend brawl, the Kansas City Royals were back at it again.

Pitcher Yordano Ventura, who was at the center of the controversy with the Oakland Athletics last weekend, sparked another benches-clearing brawl when he quick-pitched White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton. After a ground ball back to the pitcher, the two began exchanging words as they ran down the first base line before umpires tried to intervene. By that time it was too late.

The scuffle was mostly verbal until White Sox pitcher Jeff Samardjiza went after the Royals' Lorenzo Cain. As Samardjiza went to the ground, Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez threw a punch in his direction.

Both teams had been warned by the home plate umpire prior to this brawl because both starting pitchers had already hit a batter with a pitch, which probably helped raise the tension level in Chicago.

The Royals eventually won the game 3-2 in 13 innings, but a total of five players were ejected for their actions in the seventh-inning fight.
