Chicago White Sox shortstop and former Hillcrest High School Patriot Tim Anderson will be inducted into the Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony on Tuesday, April 26, at the Hinds Community College Muse Center in Pearl, Mississippi.

Anderson an alumnus of East Central Community College led all of junior college as a sophomore with a .495 batting average and helped his team to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Championship.

Anderson was so impressive as a sophomore that that he earned NJCAA Male Athlete of the Year in 2013 in just his fourth year playing the sport of baseball.

In his two seasons with the East Central Community College Warriors he recorded 82 RBIs, 14 home runs with 71 stolen bases. Not only was he impressive at the plate but his athleticism helped him to a .915 fielding percentage.

Anderson committed to continue his baseball career with the UAB Blazers, however the Chicago White Sox drafted him with the No. 17 overall draft pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. The White Sox offered Anderson a $2.1 million signing bonus to turn pro and therefore the Hillcrest native never made it to UAB.

He was named an MLB All-Star in 2021 for the first time in his career despite winning the Silver Slugger Award in 2020 and leading the American League in batting in 2019. In six major league seasons in the Windy City, Anderson is batting .287 with 288 RBIs and 91 home runs.

The Tuscaloosa-native's become a team leader for the White Sox over time, helping the club to a playoff appearance in each of the last two seasons, as a Wild Card in 2020 and as AL Central Division winners in 2021.

The ceremony to induct him into the Mississippi Community College  Sports Hall of Fame with be Tuesday, April 26 at the Hinds Community College Muse Center in Pearl, Mississippi. He is already a member of the ECCC Athletic Hall of Fame as of 2017.
